Welcome to Teen Kitchen Project

Thank you for showing interest in our Teen Kitchen Project meals program! This program engages youth ages 14-19 in the preparation of meals for people experiencing illness in Santa Cruz County. Teen Kitchen Project utilizes both paid and volunteer teens in the kitchen.

During your time in service, you will be preparing hundreds of meals to be delivered to your neighbors experiencing critical and chronic illness in Santa Cruz County. You will be washing, chopping, cooking vegetables and meats (3 out of 4 of our main dishes are vegetarian), learn a variety of cooking techniques, package meals, wash dishes and (of course), cleaning. This is hard, meaningful work and we appreciate your interest in supporting our mission to build a healthier community through food!

Participants must be a minimum age of 14 by cohort start date.

Exempt classification: Part-time
Base rate of pay: $16/hr
Cohort June 1- August 7 2024

Mandatory orientation June 1st

This is a part-time, temporary, nonexempt position eligible for overtime pay after 40 hours in a workweek or more than 8 hours in one day.

Shift times: Subject to change, and end times may vary up to 30 minutes.

Summer Shifts
Employees work all days and times; choose one Sunday shift.
Volunteers choose two days/ shifts.

Sunday: 10am-1pm
Sunday: 10am-4pm
Sunday: 1pm-4pm

Monday: 3:00pm-7:30pm

Tuesday: 3:00pm-7:30pm

Wednesday: 3:00pm-7:30pm

All shifts are located at our 2880 Research Park Drive, Suite 200 location in Soquel, California.

The application process includes a kitchen tour and interview. Once your application is submitted, we will reach out to you via text to schedule a tour time.
